Melinda Bucknam, CPA, PresidentMelinda Bucknam brings a broad base of experience and well-rounded perspective to every client. She started My Way CPA after successfully running her own CPA firm catering to individuals and small business for 18 years. Prior to that, she received her formal training from two of the largest international accounting firms in the world, then Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. Her experience comprises preparation of all types of tax returns and financial statements. As a senior accountant at Coopers & Lybrand, Melinda oversaw audits, prepared and reviewed corporate and individual tax returns, conducted tax research and developed tax planning strategies. She became fluent in many different accounting software programs in which she trained clients and other accounting professionals. Melinda graduated from the University of Florida, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a major in Finance. While working for Price Waterhouse in Miami, she was enrolled in the Masters of Taxation program at Florida International University and sat for the CPA exam. Melinda is an active member of her local community where she has served on several boards and acted as an ambassador for the regional Chamber of Commerce. She is licensed in both Colorado and New York.
Michael Welch, CPA, Vice-PresidentAs a partner with Nicola, Yester and Company in Connecticut for ten years, Michael Welch served the needs of individuals throughout New England, as well as businesses in construction, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing and retail. His extensive experience in the integration of computer and technology solutions for businesses gives My Way CPA clients a distinct advantage. As senior staff accountant and gasoline manager for the Dairy Mart Convenience Stores in Enfield, CT, Michael integrated a new gasoline accounting system and prepared sales and gasoline tax returns for 14 states. He received a B.S. in Business Management from Westfield State College and is a CPA in the state of Connecticut.
Denise Rolfsmeier, CPADenise Rolfsmeier has experience on both the government and client side of tax preparation and accounting. As an auditor for the Nebraska Department of Revenue she oversaw compliance with sales and use tax laws. In her private tax preparation practice as well as with Moser Accounting and Tax Service in Crete, Nebraska, she has prepared and reviewed individual, business and estate income tax returns. Denise holds a Masters of Professional Accountancy as well as a BS in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska, and a BS in Mathematics and Economics from Doane College. She is licensed as a CPA in Colorado. Her superior communication skills and expertise with internet and tax preparation technology help to guide My Way CPA clients through the process of establishing their new account and answering any questions they may have as they get started.
Jennifer McCarty, CPAJennifer McCarty brings a broad range of experience to My Way CPA, spanning almost 20 years of experience in both public and corporate accounting. Beginning her accounting career with Deloitte & Touche in Washington, DC, Jennifer compiled, reviewed and audited the financial statements of major organizations in the nonprofit, financial and retail industries. Her subsequent experience as an analyst with Bell Atlantic and Fannie Mae provided a strong foundation of integrating technology with accounting and document management systems. Jennifer's later experience with the firm of Kaiser, Scherer & Schlegel in Washington, DC further contributed to her knowledge regarding tax research, projections, preparation. Jennifer has spent the past eight years focused on running her own business, consisting primarily of tax planning and preparation, with a concentration on individuals, LLC's and S Corps. Her client services have also included accounting and bookkeeping, choice of entity advice, and setting up books for new clients - activities that have kept her in touch with the day-to-day needs of small business owners.
Jennifer received her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, and a Master's in Taxation from American University in Washington, DC. She is a licensed CPA in Virginia and Colorado. |
